What to Expect.....

1. Design Your Ring
We’ll start by exploring a variety of shapes and styles, helping you create a ring that’s uniquely yours. Take a moment to think about the look you want—a timeless band, a rustic texture, or something sleek and modern.

2. Size and Cut
After deciding which finger your ring is for, you’ll measure your silver for the perfect fit. You’ll then use a handsaw to cut the silver to size, creating the foundation of your ring.

3. Add a Personal Touch
Here’s where you can make it truly yours. Choose from a selection of hand stamps to inscribe a meaningful message on the inside—whether it’s a name, date, or even a fun phrase that reminds you of your trip.

4. Form the Ring
With rawhide mallets and a triblet (ring mandrel), you’ll learn to shape the silver into a rough ring form, giving it structure and life.

5. Soldering
I’ll demonstrate how to heat and solder the silver, showing you the process of joining the ends seamlessly. Feel free to ask questions about the heating and joining process—it’s a fascinating part of silversmithing!

6. Check Fit and Finalize Shape
Now that the ring is soldered, we’ll check the fit and make any adjustments for comfort. You’ll refine the ring to a perfectly rounded shape, ensuring it sits beautifully on your chosen finger.

7. Add Textures and Markings
Here’s where your creativity can shine! Experiment with tools to add custom textures or markings to make your ring one-of-a-kind. This step allows you to add a touch of character to your creation.

8. Choose Your Finish
Finally, we’ll polish your ring with the finish of your choice. Go for a high polish for a brilliant shine, a satin finish for a soft glow, or a rough, forged look for a rustic touch. Each option gives your ring a distinctive style.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a beautiful sterling silver ring, crafted entirely by you. It’s more than just a piece of jewelry—it’s a meaningful, lasting reminder of your time in Bruges, a story to tell, and a memory to cherish.
