What to Expect

1. Designing Your Ring

We begin by exploring shapes, proportions and textures, helping you define a style that feels personal — whether timeless, modern or subtly rustic.

2. Measuring & Preparing the Silver

You’ll measure and cut your sterling silver to size, creating the foundation of your ring with traditional hand tools used in professional silversmithing.

 

3. Personal Details

If you wish, you may add a discreet inscription inside your ring — a name, date or quiet reminder of your time in Bruges.

4. Forming the Ring

Using rawhide mallets and a ring mandrel, you’ll shape the silver into its circular form, gradually bringing structure and balance to the piece.

5. Soldering

I demonstrate the soldering process before guiding you through carefully joining the ends of your ring — a precise and fascinating stage of the silversmithing process.

6. Refining the Shape

Once soldered, we refine the form and adjust the fit, ensuring your ring sits comfortably and feels complete.

7. Textures & Character

You may experiment with subtle textures or surface finishes, adding individuality while maintaining a refined aesthetic.

8. Finishing

Finally, you’ll choose your preferred finish — from high polish to satin or a softly forged texture — bringing your handcrafted silver ring to its final expression.

Duration
The workshop lasts approximately 2.5–3 hours, allowing you to work at a comfortable, unhurried pace.

 

Materials
All tools and materials are provided. We work with recycled 925 sterling silver in a fully equipped artisan studio.

 

Refreshments
Hot and cold drinks, along with light refreshments, are included throughout the session.

 

Gold Options
If you wish to craft your ring in solid 14kt or 18kt gold, this can be arranged for an additional fee (subject to metal availability). Please get in touch in advance to discuss options and pricing.

 

Schedule
Group workshops are typically held on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Availability may vary depending on season and workload.

 

Private Workshops
Private group sessions are available for special occasions or exclusive bookings. These can be tailored for couples, families, friends or small team gatherings (up to 10 participants).
